Mununbul Murungidyal Holisitic Healing

The Walan Ngayi Ny Dhulubang services at OAMS provides services to people and the community to improve their social, emotional wellbeing. The focus is on helping people connect to social support services that can help address some of the social contributors to health e.g., housing, financial support, and services to protect people from family and domestic violence.

The team can also work with public, private and not for profit health services to support access and promote integrated care for people in need of specialist mental health services, sexual assault services and other community health services.

The Walan Ngayi Ny Dhulubang Team works with all teams/services at OAMS to support patient’s wellbeing including the Clinical Team and in particular Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Addiction Medicine services to support access to specialist mental health clinic services inside and external to OAMS.

The team facilitates low intensity mental health services across the community via engagement with schools, other Aboriginal controlled community organisations e.g., OALC and mainst ream services e.g., HeadSpace. Activities include health checks for students at local schools, supporting local com munity events such as NAIDOC Week and R U OK Day.

Social Emotional Wellbeing

The Walan Ngayi-Ny Dhulubang team works with works across all of the services at OAMS to support patient’s wellbeing with practical support and referrals along with care coordination and access to Psychology, Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine services to support access to specialist mental health clinic services inside and external to OAMS.

Our Wellbeing Coordinators can provide the following types of support

  • Family and Domestic Violence referrals to external services
  • Centrelink or Housing Support/Housing Pathways
  • Personal or Family Crisis/Immediate Social needs including homelessness.
  • Referral to Job Network agencies
  • Births, Deaths, Marriages and assistance with Medicare Registration
  • Assist in accessing tenancy advocacy services for rental issues
  • Aftercare services for people who have tried to take their own life
