Orange Aboriginal Medical Service offers a range of services and programs for our mob and local community members.
GP Services
Our GP service provides a wide variety of care for all ages, including management of acute and chronic diseases, health assessments, mental health care, preventative care, procedures and health education.
Our GPs and medical staff are trained in delivering client-centred services and lead all health treatments and programs for all our clients. Further screening, treatment and support as directed by our GP’s is delivered by our team of nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other clinical support staff
Hearing
partnership with Hearing Australia, OAMS offers the Hapee Program, a three days per-month hearing health program for 0 to 6-year-olds.
Vision
In partnership with BHVI and the Fred Hollows Foundation, OAMS offers a visiting optometry eye clinic service for all OAMS clients. Our clients are eligible for subsidised spectacles under the NSW Government Spectacles scheme.
Integrated Team Care
Funded by the Australian Government, OAMS offers Integrated Team Care for OAMS Aboriginal clients and Aboriginal community members living in the Bathurst, Oberon and Cabonne LGA’s. The ITC program provides localised access to coordinated multidisciplinary care to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people living with chronic illnesses.
Psychology
OAMS offers the services of two psychologists for child, adolescent and adult mental health wellbeing needs. Our psychologists use a number of different techniques to assist patients to build strategies to assist with life skills development.
Podiatry
OAMS offers the services of qualified health professional podiatrists, specialising in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and surgical conditions of feet and lower limbs. Podiatry can help with kids’ health, diabetes, sports injuries, structural problems (biomechanics), and treatment of the elderly and general foot care.
Colposcopy
In partnership with Rural Doctors Network and Western NSW Local Health District, OAMS offers a visiting Colposcopy Service for all OAMS clients and the community with a GP referral.
Psychiatry
In partnership with Rural Doctors Network, OAMS offers the services of a visiting Psychiatrist once every 4-6 weeks for face to face and telehealth consultations. Our psychiatrist assists with diagnosis and, if needed, access to medication and regular reviews.
